What is software optimization?
Chip tuning is a modern method of increasing the performance of a vehicle. Most cars today have an engine control unit (ECU) that regulates important parameters such as boost pressure, injection quantity and accelerator pedal position.
Through targeted adjustments to the software, more power, better response and optimized driving dynamics can be achieved.
It is also often possible to remove the factory speed limiter. So it’s no wonder that chip tuning is becoming increasingly popular with car enthusiasts – and the trend continues to grow.

Why don't manufacturers tune their vehicles?

In recent years, the increasingly popular common rail technology with piezo injectors has become established in diesel engines, while gasoline vehicles are increasingly equipped with direct injection. An optimal ratio of
the air/fuel mixture
With chip tuning, our team specifically adjusts the parameters in the engine management system. By increasing the air supply and adjusting the fuel quantity, we get noticeably more power out of the engine.
Important: The air-fuel ratio must be exactly right – we pay particular attention to this in order to achieve the optimum balance between efficiency, performance, and durability.
An optimal fuel mixture is crucial for engine life and clean combustion. If the mixture is too rich, fuel consumption increases and more deposits are formed. If it is too lean, the engine may overheat or have difficulty starting.
That’s why we place great importance on achieving the perfect air-fuel ratio when tuning.

However, savings depend heavily on driving style and are not guaranteed in every case.
Compliance with the highest TÜV requirements
We offer our customers the option of TÜV-certified tuning. It is important to note that certain types of tuning require individual TÜV approval, which is charged separately. However, we guarantee that CO2 and consumption measurements during the ECE cycle will always comply with standards. In addition, we have developed a particularly efficient chip tuning system that allows us to keep emissions under control. We optimise engine settings without increasing CO2 emissions or fuel consumption. Our in-house test equipment not only simulates an ECE cycle, but also includes exhaust analysis to ensure your car complies with government standards. Ultimately, our chip tuning technology will give you more fun and exciting driving experiences.
Programming the
original engine management
We offer professional chip tuning, in which we specifically intervene in the engine control system to give your vehicle more power. To do this, we read the original software directly from the control unit in debug mode, adjust the characteristic maps and reload the optimised version.
The focus is not only on more power, but also on a balanced air-fuel ratio – for efficiency, lower emissions and longer engine life.
Our experts can adjust all relevant parameters, far beyond classic chip tuning. This allows you to get the most out of your vehicle – cleanly, safely and reliably.
Programming of a freely
programmable control unit
We only optimise standard control units – no retrofit or racing ECUs. We directly access the original software of the engine control unit and adjust important characteristic maps. This means that all protective functions are retained and the vehicle remains fully diagnosable.
Modifications such as larger turbos or injectors are still possible – we adapt the standard ECU accordingly.
The big advantage: everything remains original, no additional modules, no risk from third-party control units. Just clean, safe tuning – directly at the factory level.

When new engines or models come onto the market, we start with a thorough analysis – including the turbo, injection and drive train.
We read the original software, identify important characteristic maps such as injection control, boost pressure, torque and speed limitation – and check how the safety mechanisms can be circumvented.
We are honest about this: if tuning is not worthwhile for certain engines (e.g. naturally aspirated engines), we say so clearly.
Using modern tools and test benches, we test new engines under real conditions, thus ensuring reliable, powerful results – tuned for maximum performance and confidence.
Phase
TUNING ON THE TEST BENCH:
At Tuningbase, we rely on high-tech and precision. At our locations in Unterwaltersdorf and Haßloch, we work with Superflow and Dynocom four-wheel test benches – for realistic tests under real driving conditions.
Our engineers use state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to calibrate all relevant values: injection quantity, air-fuel ratio, turbo pressure, and intake and exhaust temperatures.
Before tuning, we check the condition of the engine, read out error codes and, if necessary, carry out a test drive. We then read out the original software, customise it and test the result on the road – or on the test bench, if desired.
The entire process takes approximately 2–3 hours. Special requests such as motorsport setups are possible – however, different prices and warranty conditions apply in this case.
